Warts and All Potion

This week's Apothéké / #secretsofselfpreservation potion is the witchiest yet! It contains a frog or toad, and is named "Warts and All Potion".

That's because this week what I feel I need to work on in terms of self care is accepting myself, including my (many, many) flaws.

The potion ingredients read "Accept your entirety". This is something I'm going to endeavour to get good at, realising I'm not all that bad really. The ribbon and its text are warty green, as is the text on the potion's label.

Remember you can get involved too, via the hashtag #secretsofselfpreservation, by writing about a simple way you plan to, or already do, take care of yourself. Alternatively, you can create your own embroidered (or written on paper) potion - just remember to include the hashtag #secretsofselfpreservation along with your snaps of it.

  1. I have been really enjoying the progress of this project! I'm ironically feeling like I'm in a the kind of weird place that makes it difficult to participate (where self care would be really helpful right now), but I still might. That is the perfect warty green.

  2. I'm so glad you're enjoying it! It can sometimes feel like I'm putting work out into an echoing chamber, so it's always lovely to get responses of any kind, whether they're #secretsofselfpreservation or a lovely comment such as this. I sometimes get a little anxious about fitting making the potion into my week and what ingredients to include, which is a little ironic too! Take all the time you need to get to a place where you can look after yourself better. <3 Sometimes you've just got to tough it out. I'm at a point where I know I'm going to have anxiety, but I'm just going to get on with things anyway and it's not going to rule my life. But I accept that that's not always the easiest place to get to! Sharing/making things public can be a really difficult thing when you're experiencing anxiety, too, I get that. I would love if you got to a place where you could participate, but absolutely no pressure and I understand entirely; it's simply wonderful to know that an artist I respect and admire so much is enjoying my work. :)
